Our choir was established in 2003 in the Estonian school of Pechory (formerly Setomaa, present day Russian Federation). It was created by three people - Helju Tsopatalo (the leader of the choir), Svetlana Rakuta (the director of the Estonian school) and Helju Majak (the leader of the Seto community in the Pechory area). Our singers come from the Pechory region and still live here. The Pechory region has always had very good singers. Our most important holiday is St. Mary’s Day. We consider it very important to preserve the Seto culture in the current Pechory region where there are only a few Seto people and not many choirs. For several years we were the only Seto choir here. The greatest joy for us is communicating with our Seto relatives, hearing the Seto language from them, learning new songs , dances and Seto instrumental music. We meet once a week. We use local songs, lyrics and melodies collected by Helju Tsopatalo, and those which we bring back from our visits to Estonia.
